Research shows that aggressive behavior among dogs is substantially reduced when dogs are allowed to exercise and socialize with other dogs.
Plans are underway to expand

ECHO LAKE
DOG PARK RULES

1) Use at your own risk. Dog owners are responsible and liable for the actions and behavior of their dogs at all times.

2) Dogs must be vaccinated and have valid license/tags.

3) Limit of 3 dogs/human

4) Dogs must be accompanied by an adult human at all times

5) Owners must have a leash for each dog.  Dogs must be on leash until inside the off-leash area.

6) No puppies younger than 4 months old.

7) No children under 8 years of age. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

8) Owners must clean up and remove dog feces. Poop bags are provided.

9) If your dog becomes aggressive, it must be leashed and removed.

10) No dogs in heat.

DOG PARK SIZE

The park is currently just under 3 acres in size, a portion of which is closed off until it can be re-seeded.

DOG WASTE

Dog owners are asked to place dog waste in trash cans located in the parking lot (cans were removed from the park itself because Maintenance vehicles are not able to drive to the gate due to wet, sloped conditions). Dog waste bags are provided and owners are also encouraged to bring their own. Currently, "Friends of Echo Lake Dog Park" provides buckets within the dog park which volunteers empty into trash cans.

ACTIVE GATE PROCEDURE

There are four gates to the park which are rotated every few weeks allowing for one "active gate" to help lessen erosion in these areas. The active gate is marked by a
golf flag.

DOG PARK CONCERNS

Currently, the County of Union is working to address erosion and dog waste concerns and other issues at the Echo Lake site. If these concerns cannot be addressed adequately, the possibility of opening a nearby, alternative site will be considered.
